Installation of Street Lighting

We have installed 3 stand-alone solar street lighting at the PKH Aoral Training Centre. Two of them are mounted on a metal pole and sits on the ground, with cement foundation. The third lighting is mounted on the roof top of the Guard House.

The design and calculation for the stand alone street lighting is shown below.
The Charge Controller is designed in-house with the following specifications for the battery status.
The battery voltage is monitored and data logged for 24 hours. The operating profile of the street lighting is shown below.

Solar Lamp Powered by 3 AA Rechargable Batteries

In addition, we have installed two small solar lamps in the toilets behind the Guard House. This gives the staff lights at night when they use the toilet.
Each lamp gives 1 Watt of LED lights, powered by 3 AA rechargable batteries and a 3 Watt solar panel (9Vdc @ 300mA). This gives about 5 hours of lights everynight. Estimated cost is Solar Panel ($9), Box & LEDs ($10), 3 AA Batteries ($15) and Switch & Wires ($2) = $36.
