Mission Chiang Mai, Thailand at Suk Paluang Karen Church

On 31 March 2018, I visited Chiang Mai, Thailand on mission work to install solar lighting for Boon Tong’sAuntie Church at Suk Paluang. The Pastor, Toh Gae, manages the Karen Baptist Church (KBC). The name of the church is Tea Ker Por Tha, meaning Tea (water) Ker Por (light) Tha (delta). The Church has a congregation of 80 people and the Karen village has14 houses with 85 people living there. They are farmers, planting rice, peanuts and corns which are long lasting crops which they can sell. There is also Strawberry farm. The school is located at the next village. This village was started over 100 years ago by the great grandfather of the pastor. They live among the Mong hill tribes.

Below is their Sunday school class.

Below is their common toilet.
We were preparing the solar mount and solar panels for the church. These were unused items from the pastor's house.

Preparing to install the solar panels and electrical wiring.
Inside the church, the woods at made of teak.

The cooking area and has LED lights.

The Sunday School classes also have solar lighting. The lights are 12VDC LED strips. The LED strips are also very bright.

The hospitality from the Pastor is very good. They allow us to stay in his house and also provide food for us. The temperature at night in April is cold, below 20 degrees Celcius. That is why they have a fireplace besides their beds.

We visited the surrounding area, very nice and cool. There is also a strawberry farm.
